we are moving into an energy revolution over the next decade. it's not only going to change the face of american demographics and the u.s. economy, it's going to change our economic standing across the globe. it resets everything. resets everything. >> and all starts tremendous consequences, u.s. reliance and dependence on the middle east obviously changes when we become a larger oil producer than saudi arabia. >> and maybe we can stop fighting wars in the middle east. >> maybe. >> we can go to north dakota instead. i'm telling you, those canadians, i don't trust they will. i do not trust them! >> hey, we need to figure out, what's the line that separates, you know -- >> we need a parallel. >> we need a parallel. a canadian parallel. the canadians and i've been talking about this for years -- >> i'm going to take a poll. may i take the cane and beat joe on the head with it? >> seriously, how many divisions -- >> all those who agree, raise their hands. >> a lot of canadians watch "morning joe." we don't want to hurt you, we want your oil. it woul

it's their energy that keeps this perception going. we've got a brand-new parade route this year. we're going to march down sixth avenue. it's wider, direct, right down to macy's a lot more public space. we're used to having 3.5 million people in new york see it. it's going to be a magnificent day. >> i always feel for the folks that are performing in those little skirts and the drum majors and the like. do they ever complain, or is it just such an honor? >> they really don't complain. they know up front it's going to be cold. most of the time if they look underdressed, they've got a lot of layers underneath. what's interesting, we have the band practice at 3:00 in the morning. not only is it cold but it's dark. and these bands come from all over the country. so many of them have never even been in new york city before. and then they find themselves at macy's herald square looking up, cameras all around them and they're practicing. >> i know you've got to get going, but i have to ask, i always feel bad because all the folks working on this parade, do you get to celebrate thanksgiv

this is where all the economic energy is, where all the dynamism is. what we're seeing in asia is what we saw a century ago. china, korea, vietnam, the tectonic plates are moving. the united states has to be involved. we've got to give these countries some reassurance. they have to understand they have an alternative to simply appeasing china. on the other hand, we don't want to set up a new cold war with china and for them to start acting recklessly. this is going to be the extraordinarily difficult balancing act, and the administration's going to have to figure out a way not to abandon the middle east but to put a ceiling on what we do in the middle east so we can do more at home but also so we can do more in this part are the world that's going to shape history a hell of a lot more than the middle east. >> aside from the economic issue, though, the nuclear proliferation has existential issues. what is your sense of where we will be with pakistan, afghanistan after the withdrawal? >> well, pakistan, i think, is the single toughest problem. we talked

i think that kind of sacked his energy and bogged him down and it reduced his sense of freedom to act. but beyond that, he might have been surprised by the tenacity of netanyahu's resistant and undermining of obama. he kind of folded up and he can redeem himself. he missed an opportunity, a very serious one, but he has one again and that's the great thing about his situation right now. he doesn't have to worry about the next elections. he doesn't have to worry about fund-raising for that election. he doesn't have to worry about specific constituencies. all he has to worry about is the american national interests first of all and the good future of the region and that's also very important to us. >> dr. sacks, what is your -- what's your take on the president's performance? do you agree with dr. brzezinski, that he's been more hands off over the past four years? >> yeah. i think that we could see that israel wasn't making any moves, any concessions, the settlements process which has been so frustrating to get the two-state solution was just going forward completely unabated, and so we
